Legal & Client Operations Officer — Know My Legal

Shikana Group Limited — Know My Legal

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Full-time, project-based · 0–2 years’ experience
Reports to: Operations Manager and/or Founder/CEO

About the Role

Know My Legal is a legal technology platform designed to make business law, contracts, company registration and ongoing legal compliance more accessible to entrepreneurs and businesses.

We are looking for a Legal & Client Operations Officer to support the legal content, contracts, company-registration services, AI legal engine and customer experience of the platform.

This is an entry-level to junior position suitable for an exceptional fresh law graduate or someone with up to two years of relevant experience. We are looking for someone who is intelligent, organised, curious, comfortable with technology and able to learn quickly.

This is not a traditional legal role. You will work at the intersection of law, technology and client service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Research & Regulatory Updates

  • Research, collect and organise relevant Tanzanian laws, regulations, government notices, regulatory guidance, forms and procedures.
  • Maintain the legal knowledge base used by the Know My Legal platform.
  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations and government procedures and ensure that platform content remains current and accurate.
  • Identify legal information that needs to be added, corrected or updated.

2. Company Registration & Business Compliance

  • Support and manage the company-registration and compliance component of the platform.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on incorporation, TRA registration, business licences, regulatory requirements, fees and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain checklists, workflows and supporting documents.
  • Ensure that users are asked the correct questions and provide the correct information and documentation.
  • Assist in processing company registrations, filings and related compliance services.

3. AI Legal Engine & Platform Support

  • Work with developers to improve the legal accuracy of the Know My Legal AI engine.
  • Test AI-generated answers and identify incorrect, incomplete, outdated or misleading responses.
  • Research and provide the correct legal information where problems are identified.
  • Review user queries to identify gaps in the platform’s legal knowledge.
  • Explain legal requirements and processes to developers where clarification is required.
  • Test relevant parts of the platform and report errors, missing information or other issues.
  • Follow up with developers on agreed corrections and updates.

No coding or technical background is required, but the successful candidate must be willing to learn and work closely with technology developers.

4. Contracts & Legal Documents

  • Review, update and maintain the Know My Legal contract and document library.
  • Assist in developing new contract templates and clauses.
  • Work with developers on contract automation and customisation.
  • Review the questions used to customise contracts and ensure that generated documents reflect the information provided by users.
  • Test automated documents for legal accuracy and identify necessary corrections.
  • Update contracts and templates where there are changes in law, regulation or business requirements.

5. Client Onboarding, Queries & Legal Add-On Services

  • Onboard new customers and explain how the Know My Legal platform works.
  • Assist users in understanding the AI assistant, contracts, company-registration services and other platform features.
  • Respond to customer questions relating to the use of the platform and escalate matters requiring substantive legal advice or senior review.
  • Monitor incoming platform queries, identify recurring questions and provide feedback on areas requiring improvement.
  • Coordinate legal and administrative add-on services, including document stamping, government filings, business licences, company changes, additional contract customisation and other compliance services.
  • Keep customers informed and ensure that requests are followed through to completion.
  • Record customer feedback and recurring issues so that the platform can continue to improve.
  • From time to time, assist with appropriate legal, research or compliance assignments for Shikana Group and its related businesses.

Qualifications & Experience

We welcome applications from fresh law graduates and candidates with up to two years of experience. The successful candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
  • Strong academic performance and intellectual ability.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret legislation, regulations and legal documents.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Ability to understand legal concepts quickly and explain them clearly to non-lawyers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Confidence communicating with clients and users.
  • Good computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems and technology.
  • Genuine interest in artificial intelligence, legal technology and innovation.
  • A proactive attitude, strong sense of responsibility and ability to follow assignments through to completion.

Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania is not required.

Experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, company secretarial work, regulatory compliance, startups or technology will be an advantage but is not essential.

Who We Are Looking For

We are less concerned about how many years you have worked than about how you think and how quickly you learn.

We are looking for someone intelligent, curious, diligent and meticulous; someone who can be given an unfamiliar legal question, find the applicable law, understand it, explain it clearly and identify what needs to happen next.

The role is particularly suitable for an ambitious young legal professional interested in gaining exposure to business law, artificial intelligence, legal technology and entrepreneurship.

How to Apply

Please send your CV and Motivation Letter explaining:

  • Why you are suitable for the role;
  • What value you believe you can bring to Know My Legal; and
  • A few sentences giving your own views on AI, technology and the future of the legal industry.

Please write the Motivation Letter in your own words. Candidates who use AI to prepare their Motivation Letter will be disqualified.
